SON ET LUMIERE
A new multi-media work by world-music composer Chris Gander, which explores the relationships between the various cycles of life and nature – the seasons, the elements, sound (cycle of 5ths) the chakras, the meridians and the colours of the rainbow. In this mesmerising 45-minute work Adams is joined by percussionists Adam Bushell and Tom Norrell, and a stunning video and light backdrop has been created by John Baker.
The work can be presented as a short concert in its own right, or as the second half of a full evening show, in which the talents of the individual musicians are showcased in the first half in a range of music from Bach to John Cage.
In 2014 for the first time in his career Adams joined forces with another top virtuoso recorder player, Matthias Maute in a varied and exciting programme of music by Castello, Biber, Corelli, Diabelli, Hotteterre, Haydn, Chopin and Maute. Such was the success of this venture (at the Recorder Summit in Schwelm, Germany) that Adams and Maute will be offering it to other festivals in the coming season; a fascinating opportunity to hear two contrasting ‘recorder giants’ sparring in concert!
In a separate venture, Adams will be teaming up with Swedish recorder virtuoso Dan Laurin in a new concerto for two Eagle Recorders by the Dutch composer Chiel Meijering. Details will be available soon.
